I am deeply saddened by the news of the shooting death of a civilian in Minneapolis during a federal immigration enforcement operation. My prayers are with the family, loved ones, and all who are grieving this loss.
We are reminded that “God created humanity in God’s own image” (Genesis 1:27). Every person’s life is sacred and deserving of respect, protection, and compassion. All individuals, especially those who are most vulnerable, must be treated with justice, dignity, and mercy.
I join all those calling for a full, transparent investigation into this incident and for careful review of policies around the use of lethal force. Such force must always be a last resort to protect life. Our society needs reforms that uphold human dignity, prevent harm, and promote peace.
As a Church, we pray for healing, reconciliation, and wisdom for all leaders to ensure justice and safeguard the vulnerable. May God comfort those who mourn, strengthen our communities, and guide us toward constructive dialogue and lasting change.
